Description

Broccoli sprouts are incredibly nutrient-dense, containing up to 50 times the nutrients found in mature vegetable Broccoli, including 50 times more glucoraphanin (converted to sulforaphane). They are widely recognised as a chemoprotectant and nature’s richest source of sulforaphane. A growing body of evidence has linked sulforaphane to decreased inflammation markers, increased antioxidant levels, and the treatment of various different types of cancers, along with numerous other health benefits.

A delicious crunchy flavour, scatter them on top of pasta, curries, stir-fries, soups, and salads.

Hi. I want broccoli sprouts for DIM oestrogen balancing. I understand I can buy a biosnacky jar and some seeds from you but wondered what would be easier to grow – the calabrese or mixed with alfalfa and also what are the freeze dried ones for? Do you just use them instead of fresh sprouts? How do you store them? How long do they last? Are they crunchy as dry? Doe they have the same healthy benefits??? Thank you.

Hi, if I buy are larger quantity (say 120g) does it come in two 60g packets or one larger packet? I’m trying to save on the postage as it’s a lot for one small packet of freeze-dried broccoli sprouts that I intend to buy regularly.

Support
2 months 20 days ago

Hi Nicola 🙂

If you buy 120g it will come in one bag. In the next month or so we should be switching to using Royal Mail which will bring the cost of postage down.

If you do place an order with us, drop me an email at [email protected] and I’ll book your order in with Royal Mail and refund you the difference in postage.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I have purchased your sprouts from an organic food company and they seem to be way, way cheaper than buying directly from you- which has surprised me or am I missing something?

Thank you

Hi Jack,

It may be that you purchased our fresh sprouts from a delivery company? We only sell freeze-dried broccoli sprouts and seeds for sprouting on our website. Our freeze-dried broccoli may seem more expensive than fresh sprouts but it is a lot more condensed version. Research has also shown that freezing can increase the sulforaphane content by up to three times which is pretty impressive! I hope this clears this u, do let me know if you have any other questions 🙂

I am looking at sprouts for DAO (an enzyme) it helps with histamine intolerance. I am aware that pea sprouts are super high, however they need to be fresh. Wondering if these have good DAO – freeze dried would be easier than trying to grow or ensure they are fresh on the shelf, are you familiar? Can you guide me?

Thanks for your question.

I’m afraid this one is outside the remit of our expertise so we won’t be able to advise you. I’m so sorry we can’t be of more help this time.

Hello, I’m new to sprouts so have no clue and have a couple of questions… 1. Where do you store freeze dried sprouts? 2. Once opened how long do they last? Many thanks.

Hi Caroline 🙂

You can store the freeze-dried sprouts in a kitchen cupboard. The most important thing is to keep them away from moisture so anywhere that’s dry will be fine. We recommend using them within 4 weeks of opening.

Hiya, just checking back in from a previous question/answer. Is your current batch a 100% Calabrese batch?

Support
8 months 3 days ago

Yes, the current batch is 100% Calabrese and all future batches will be, the freeze-dried will be 100% Calabrese from now on.

Can you give me some idea of how large the various weight packages are please? Also what is the “shelf” life? Trying to work out what I can fit in my freezer!

Support
1 year 6 months ago

Hi Helen,
The packages are fairly small, about 15cm by 15cm. The shelf life is approximately 1 year if unopened. You will have to be careful they don’t get any moisture inside of them though, if they are going in your freezer! They are heat-sealed and they contain oxygen absorbers, but be careful not to get the outer packaging wet or damp as this will cause them to absorb moisture and rehydrate, in which case they won’t keep.
I hope that helps.
Best regards
Ellisha

Hi are your freeze dried broccoli sprout from Calabrese or broccoli raab? Thank you.Do they taste peppery?

Support
1 year 8 months ago

Hi Sofiya,
Yes, they do taste a little peppery, as they do when fresh.
At the moment they are made up of 50% Calabrese and 50% Raab, but our next batch will be 100% Calabrese seed. This should be on the website by January.
Best regards
Ellisha

I am really impressed with this company as they process orders quickly and have a great range of organic products. This time, I purchased kale seeds which sprouted quickly and were really delicious. I also bought the freeze dried broccoli sprouts which are convenient for those days when I have forgotten (or can't) add seeds to my bio-Snacky germinator!
